Poster for Aliens

Part horror, part science-fiction, part thriller. All excellent. Oh yes, I could write movie posters, I could. Instead, I'm writing posts about movies. And Aliens is a very good movie to write a post about

Ripley and her cat are the only survivors of the Nostromo, the space mining vessel that answered a distress call from the planet LV-426, and picked up a rather nasty alien in the process. Ripley and her feline space pet have hypersnoozed for 57 years, finally reaching Earth and reawakening. Ripley soon discovers that humans have been back to that LV-426 in an attempt to terraform and colonise it. But, nobody's heard from the terraforming colonists for a while. Ripley is pretty confident she knows what's happened, nobody really believes her, so they decide to assemble a crew of macho men and women to find out for themselves. They invite Ripley along for the ride, who goes mostly because she's a bit bored.

It doesn't take long for Ripley and co to discover what's happened, and they soon find themselves up against a rather familiar enemy. But this time, there's more than one. Hence the film being called Aliens, and not something like Another Alien. Or maybe just Alien 2. They also find a lone survivor, a little girl called Newt. She's a bit feral at first, but seems to warm to Ripley and provides some guidance to the crew. Not that it helps them much.

My Rating:

(9/10)
